Partnership in climate protection

That's why we offset our unavoidable emissions through certified climate protection projects with our partner ClimatePartner. In this way, we are making an active contribution to the 1.5 degree target. Together we can achieve more!
About the project
This joint project promotes the financing of a certified climate protection program and at the same time contributes to the global protection of the oceans. For every tonne of CO₂ saved through the climate protection project, 10 kg of plastic is collected in coastal areas. This prevents plastic from entering the sea and protects sensitive marine ecosystems. Marine protection is currently linked to a certified cooking stove project in India(climatepartner.com/1496). These efficient cookstoves use less wood and thus reduce deforestation. Climate protection projects that have already been combined include solar energy projects in Omaheke, Namibia(climatepartner.com/1404) and in the Indian states of Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka and Maharashtra(climatepartner.com/1429) as well as a certified cooking stove project in Maharashtra, India(climatepartner.com/1499).
About the project
As part of this project, degraded land near Dingxi in China is being revitalized through large-scale afforestation, reforestation and revegetation on a total of 49,060 hectares. This creates a stable habitat for native animal and plant species, while saving around 45.6 million tons of CO₂ over the course of the project.
As the region often suffers from drought, an efficient irrigation system has been set up that uses rainwater and water from nearby rivers. This system does not affect the local water resources and can also be used by the population for their fields. The local population is very positive about the project - also due to accompanying measures such as the construction of a new road, which significantly improves the quality of life.
